18.11.10 Top of Europe – Swiss Alps

we are going up Jungfraujoch, often called the “Top of Europe” which at an elevation of 3,454 meters (11,332 ft) above sea level.  since it’s mountain, we finally ‘changed’ our outerwear to a set of thicker winter jacket.

on the ride up to jungfrau, everywhere is covered in white snow. so beautiful.

1st stop – Gletscherwelt

I’ve opened the window & stretch my hand out to take picture of the train moving.

Changing train to Jungfraujoch railway station at 3,450 meters (11,319 ft) above sea level.

we finally reached, and the weather is really cold (for someone from the tropics whereby there is only summer all-year-round)

woohoo…its really cold out there due to the strong wind.  we need to ‘run back’ inside to keep warm after 10 minutes.  its only a while out in the snow and everyone’s hungry. so we had a early lunch in the cafeteria.  actually the food is great.  for CHF10, we get a 3 course meal – bread & soup, chicken drumstick & ice cream.  i tell you, this is 1 of the best meal we had!!

after lunch, we had energy, and definitely felt warmer. we now proceed to check out the sphinx (at 3571m high)

after spending half a day there, we are leaving Jungfrau, feeling tired. must be the altitude sickness.  nevertheless, the experience was worth it.
