16.11.10 Venice

yes, i’m going venice today. renowned for its beauty (city of canals).  but 天不作美. its gloomy and started drizzling.  the disadvantage of traveling in november (trying to comfort myself) -.-

arrived at dock to cross over to Venice Island today. It's raining!!

as our tour group is small (20 pax), we can charter our own private water taxi.

the gondolas are there waiting...

venice is made up of 117 small islands in the marshy Venetian Lagoon along the Adriatic Sea in northeast Italy. So crossing a bridge means hopping onto another island. Plenty of bridges to cross....

glimpse of the St Mark's Campanile

and we reached Piazza San Marco (often known in English as Saint Mark's Square), is the principal square of Venice, Italy.

the Doge's Palace (Italian: Palazzo Ducale di Venezia) is a gothic palace in Venice. The palace was the residence of the Doge of Venice.

st Mark's Basilica lies on Piazza San Marco (in the San Marco sestiere or district) adjacent and connected to the Doge's Palace.

the Patriarchal Cathedral Basilica of Saint Mark (officially known in Italian as the Basilica Cattedrale Patriachale di San Marco and commonly known as Saint Mark's Basilica) is the cathedral church of the Roman Catholic Archdiocese of Venice, northern Italy.

saw the planks? well, the islands are starting to flood. we have to walk on the wooden planks.

my turn to 'catwalk' on the runway. lol...

you can see the flooding right?

according to the tour guide, venice will be raining for 3 days. today is only day 1. so you can expect the flooding to last for a while.

while raining, we visited a glass-blowing factory. Master in action.

need to activate the umbrella

the gondolas are all docked as there is no customer.

mystery of venice

the weather has cleared for a while. photo time.

farewell venice
